Too Young To Be Old
Tai Chi is an excellent method of natural exercise especially suited for the mature student. A cross between Yoga and meditation, Tai Chi consists of a series of natural gentle movements and breathing exercises designed to build strength, restore balance and increase flexibility while helping the practitioner to achieve a relaxed state of mind and body.
Tai Chi can be practiced anywhere. There's very little risk of overdoing it, and there's no need for special equipment. However, as with any new exercise endeavor, it's best to check with your health advisor before trying it for the first time.
The benefits of Tai Chi for seniors are well documented. If you are looking for a low-impact, relaxing form of exercise that only requires about 20 minutes a day and rewards your efforts then Tai Chi could well be for you.
Many seniors find Tai Chi an easy activity and a peaceful environment in which to meet other seniors with common interests.
No special equipment is needed. Just comfortable clothing and supportive footwear.
